Baramulla
Located on the banks of
river Jhelum
, this beautiful city of mountains is situated 54 km away from Srinagar. It is located at the highest point of the river Jhelum. This place is locally known as Varmul
. This city is famous for the popular tourist destinations, shrines, temples, and the world’s highest green golf course.
In 2306 BC, Raja Bhim Sena founded this city. After that many travelers around the world came here to know about the history of the place. This place has got its importance from all religions. It has sacred mosques, shrines, temples, gurudwaras, and churches for all the people who belong to different religions.
The climate remains moderate throughout the summer and during winters, this place receives a huge snowfall.
The town of
Baramulla
has got two important towns, the old town and the new town which are connected by few bridges that include a suspension bridge as well connecting Gulnar park and Deewan bagh. The old town was densely populated some years before but during the last decade, most of the families moved to the new town and posh areas of the city. According to the 2011 census, this city has a total population of 71,434.
This city is spread over an area of 23.98 km2.
Baramulla is the fourth most populous city in the state. The literacy rate according to the latest census is 79.6 %. Most of the people follow the Islam religion here. Other religions are also being followed by non-muslims.

. This park is located on the island in the middle of the river Jhelum. This park is accessible by a wooden bridge that is on the way from Baramulla to Uri.
How to reach:-
The city of Baramulla is accessible by road and railway. From the main city of Srinagar, it will take you almost 40 minutes by the road that is almost 54 km.
if you travel by train, the train route is from Banihal-Srinagar-Baramulla. If traveling by train from Srinagar, it will take you 52-55 minutes to reach here. If you travel across Banihaal-Srinagar-Baramulla, then it will take you 3 hours to reach.
