Kulgam
is situated at a distance of 68 km from the city of Srinagar. It is also known as the rice bowl of Kashmir
, as the paddy fields here grow most of the stock of aromatic and tasty Kashmiri rice.
The total population of the area according to the census of 2011 is 23,584. The literacy rate of the district is 69.2%. The official language of this village is Kashmiri, but people also speak Urdu, Hindi, Dogri, and English.
The climate here remains moderate in spring but with the upcoming months of summer, the temperature begins to rise. The autumn is the season of harvesting crops and the winter gets harsh with the cold temperature and this area receives heavy snowfall.

If traveling from Jammu, this route will take you almost 7 hours and 20 minutes, which is a distance of 237 km.
