is an alpine lake that is situated 13 kilometers from the meadows of Gulmarg
. Alpathar is situated at the foothills of Alpathar peaks
. It is situated between the rocky mountains and green lush woods of Gulmarg.
Alpathar Lake is also known as a frozen lake, for this place receives huge snowfall during winter and is not accessible during this time. The Freezed lake starts to melt in March but the slabs of ice still float in the water. It is accessible by three ways from the Gulmarg, through the cable car ride, a motorable road, and by trekking.
Alpathar Lake trek is something which is uplooked by many adventurers. It is a trek of almost 14 kilometers that starts from the Gulmarg. You cannot start your journey on your own you must have a local guide, if you do so you will end up losing your way.

Gondola Cable Car Ride
could be the best and the easiest way to reach here. From the height of the Gondola, you will get to see the bit of everything, the huge snow-clad mountains, the route from where the lake is accessible, the snow-covered meadows of the Gulmarg, and Khilanmarg. You would reach the Alpathar peaks by taking a second phase ride of the gondola.
Snow-skiing is another activity that could be done here. From the height of the Alpathar peaks, the skiing is done to the other side of the valley. Gulmarg could be the best place that you would provide the best things to experience. Sipping the hot Kashmiri Kehwa on some local shop while coming back from the freezed lake would provide warmth to your soul.
How to reach:-
From the Srinagar international airport, it will take you almost 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach.
If traveling from Jammu, this route will take you almost 9 hours that is a distance of 314 kilometers.
