Chashme Shahi
:-
the Royal Spring
The
Mughal Garden
of
Chashme Shahi
is well known for its natural spring. This garden was made by Ali Mardan Khan, who was a governor of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. He made this garden for the eldest prince, Dara Shikoh. The garden is surrounded by the Zabarwan hills and the scenic beauty is alluring.
This garden is the smallest among the three Mughal Gardens that are situated along the banks of Dal Lake. The whole garden of Chashme Shahi is surrounded by beautiful and colored flowers. The architecture has a total Iranian influence and the garden is modeled on the Persian designs.
The garden is obviously manicured by artificial means. The spring water flows through the terraces and the topography of this place has led it to become a very beautiful garden. The spring water is divided into three sections; the
aqueduct
, waterfall, and the fountains.
The first and the uppermost garden has a Kashmiri-styled hut, from where the spring of Chashme Shahi originates. The water from there flows down the second terrace. The second terrace holds a water pool and a large fountain stands in the middle. The water from here flows down into the third terrace, which is collected in the lowest pools at the entrance of the garden.
