Sharika Devi Temple is dedicated to goddess Shakti. By the name of
Jagadamba Sharika Bhagwati
or Sharika Devi, she is worshipped in this temple. She is believed to have 18 arms.
In the 1980s there used to be a large hue in the temple during the Pooja’s, Havans, and Aartis. but in 90’s a majority of Kashmiri pandits fled away to Jammu and other parts of the country. After a decade or two, now many Kashmiri pandit families came back and the temple got its devotees back.
You can visit anytime here during the whole year. Although the
hill of Hari Parbat
is occupied by the military forces. But you don’t need any pass to visit the temple. It is open to everyone. The temple is accessible by the stairs or by ropeway. How to reach:-
From the Srinagar international airport, it will take you almost 40 minutes to reach here by cab.
If traveling from Jammu, this road trip will take you almost 8 hours and 20 minutes, which is a distance of 266 km.
