Pakharpora Shrine
is dedicated to Syed Balkhi (RA). This shrine is situated in the Yousmarg area of Kashmir valley. Syed Balkhi was basically from Balk (an area in Afghanistan). He came to Kashmir back in the 15th century. He was a pious follower of Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (r.a). He preached Islam in the whole valley and followed the path of Sheikh sahib.
People from all over the valley came here throughout the year. But on the annual urs (death anniversary) of the Syed,
Pakharpora Shrine is thronged by thousands of people.
Pakharpora Shrine has one more attraction for the visitors that are trees growing in this very place. The trees growing there do not grow anywhere else in the valley.
The shrine is accessible via Srinagar, Yousmarg, Pulwama, and Chrar-i-Sharief. The shrine is a heritage site as the architectural structure is of ancient times. On Fridays, the shrine got filled with devotees who come here for the congregational prayer of Friday.
The market adjoining the shrine is popular for the dry pellets of fruits like apples, pears, orchards, and many more, dried vegetables are also available in the market. The area in the backyards of Pakharpora is home to world-class delicious and juicy apples.
